Our June-July Newsletter

Dear Friends at Southern Korean Presbyterian Church,

We are excited to share our June-July Newsletter with you.

Thank you for "being here with us" giving in prayer, finance, and encouragement sharing the Gospel of Christ to the ends of the earth.
On a Life flight to Angoram last week John captured kids on the opposite shore as John waited for the patient to arrive by boat. It was quite a sight, one of them had his face painted with mud :) Click Here to see a 10 sec video

As usual, we have stories to share, but this month we would like to focus on our team here and prayer.  Praise the Lord that Aviation Operations and Ministry have been great!
The team here (three families) have been under a great deal of stress.  This is due to  non-stop teams of visitors from USA, high workload and lack of manpower available, and growing pains in developing new processes and procedures for the way we do business on our new base where we live. We are developing a way to track all of the expenses in and charges out to families. Please remember to pray for our individual relationships and our team here as we come out of a time of realizing yet again we can not do this on our own, but only in His strength.  Trials will grow us stronger James 1:2-4.

Above from Facebook June 24: Quite an interesting day today. John and Mark were busy working on our planes this morning when John had to depart for a Life Flight to Malui Lagoon near Ambunti at 1130am. Upon surveying this picturesque lake at less than 50ft of altitude (fly by), John noted a giant crocodile in the middle of the water looking straight at the plane John directly over flew it. It lunged and rolled over on its back as he overflew. That is a first for Samaritan. John talked to Mark after and that is the first we have seen! John is kicking himself for not using the Gopro today.

John also noted that the patient had not yet arrived. Reynnie (7 year old boy) above (top left), unconscious is suffering from suspected menengitis. He flew up the river to check for the boat carrying him. Once spotted, John returned to land at the lake and waited. With over an hour to wait, John had the opportunity to story with local kids about the crocodile. They had seen them before. Last year, on that same lake, John was waiting for an extended time on a hot day and went for a swim with some kids. After seeing the beast today, swimming seems less desirable !

John had an opportunity to preach the Gospel. Lisha asked Jesus into her life to today! Praise the Lord. Join us in praying for these two children.

Above from our facebook post July 19: Today was very encouraging as we engaged in our hospital ministry. We pray before we go each time. We shared the gospel starting with creation –sin, Old Testament atonement for sin, God's New Testament loving and redemptive work of Jesus on the cross, and the miracle of rising again to life. SA baby patient Julias, family and surrounding patients heard the message. Julas, Gramdmother Linette, and nearby patients, Sabet and Elsie asked Jesus into their lives today. Sometimes God works a miracle in the lives of those in which we are surrounded by! Praise be to Him.

Above from our facebook post July 22: Yesterday John continued work on the Samaritan Aviation ambulance with hanger staff. it's being refurbished on the interior some exterior rust removal and safety inspection. Mark and John teamed up on medicine deliveries to Kanengara via Timbunke. On one of the fights Mark was able divert the flight slightly to help bring a patient back. Landen was excited that there was room on the flight for him to fly with Dad on the last load of medicine!

Enjoy the photos below of maintenance on our SA vehicles.  John has been teaching our hangar staff over time to work on vehicles under supervision.  They have expressed their joy to be a part of vehicle maintenance and inspections.  We are doing a Bible study Called "Creation to Christ" in Tok Pisin each day at the hangar.  They and and the helicopter company we share the hangar with are enjoying that as well.  We took an afternoon as a hangar staff this month as a retreat and time if fellowship.  John was able to give sailboat rides.

Romans 15:5
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus.

As always, we can't thank you all enough for your love, encouragement and support through this ministry here!  Hope that you feel the great impact you are making and we just could not do it without our friends and family behind us.  Again, thank you for blessing Samaritan Aviation and our family as we serve here in Papua New Guinea.

  • We are going on a one week holiday rest and enjoying our time with our children.
  • Our 4 children are having fun on summer break and they have been playing soccer everyday with friends in our community.
  • It's been exciting to be part of God's divine appointments with sharing the gospel and being present when people have asked Jesus into their lives.

  • For safe travels on short road trips we may take during our one week of holiday rest
  • For the strengthening of relationships between three Samaritan families on our base.
  • For a smooth transition for our children as Home school starts in two weeks (Grades 10, 7, 5 and 3).
  • For the many new believers to grow strong in faith and a life following Christ
